Import and Export Code Registration

Import Export Code is required to import or export any kind of goods in India. Import export code is required by any business who wishes to import goods for its business purpose or for trading purpose. IEC is 10 digit code with a permanent validity. With the recent amendment the IEC code is the entities pan number.

IEC is issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industries. Importers are not allowed to proceed without this code and exporters can’t take benefit of exports from DGFT, customs, Export Promotion Council, if they don’t have this code.
